Ginchiyo Yagyu (柳生ギンチヨ, Yagyuu Ginchiyo) is the 3rd chapter of Gen Oosuka's Doron Dororon.
Summary[]
Ginchiyo Yagyu is seen looking at a board tallying the Mononoke kills of each samurai, she's congratulated by her colleagues but she says it's not enough. They inform her about the incident where a samurai died yesterday (from Chapter 2) and that they don't have enough skilled samurai to keep people from dying. Ginchiyo marches off to go on patrol, stating she won't let anyone die, as it would affect her chances of promotions. The co-workers respect how she goes on patrol every day.
Dora Sasaki is at home where his landlord evicts him for not paying his rent. Kusanagi blames themself as Dora has been buying food for them. Despite this, they have no plans of separating. There is a knock on the door which turns out to be Ginchiyo who identifies herself before spotting Kusanagi's supernatural energy and attacking them. Kusanagi runs away and evades attacks until Dora picks them up. He tells Kusanagi to turn into a sword so they can defend themselves, but Kusanagi doesn't want to fight a human. Dora apologises and instead throws the floorboard at her to obscure her vision. Ginichiyo however, can see supernatural energy regardless of her vision being blocked and swings her sword but halts thinking it's Dora. It turns out that Kusanagi shapeshifted to look like Dora, allowing Dora to sneak up from behind and grab Ginichiyo who couldn't notice him due to his lack of supernatural energy. She keeps hitting him so he can free her and then taunts Kusanagi telling them to kill her, but Kusanagi refuses, Dora pushes her away as he and Kusanagi run away saying that samurai aren't their enemy. Dora also thanks Kusanagi and tells them to hit him if he makes another bad call. Before they can leave the house Ginichiyo speeds past them and blocks the exit, she then tells them that they've passed. She tells them that she was only testing them, in order to see if they were ethical. Dora's landlord comes up demanding money for the damages made, Ginichiyo pays her off and she leaves.
On the rooftop, Ginichiyo explains to them that she needs strong collaborators as she cannot protect the whole town alone. She tells them to work with them despite that meaning teaming up with a Mononoke. She says how she believes if it could save even one person then it's worth trying. Dora questions working with her and she tells him she'll pay them too. Dora warns her that she'll regret it if she tries to trick and kill Kusanagi. She says that she won't as it won't advance her career, as she is focussed on advancing, saving people just happens to be the way to do it. She plans to advance faster than anyone so she can catch up with someone called Yujin. The three agree to work together to advance their own goals.
